A personal branding photo shoot shot list is the key to the success of your session. Having a good shot list will ensure that you get the photos that you need and photos that you’ll be able to use in multiple ways. Knowing exactly what photos you need, where you need them, and how they’ll be used will make your photo shoot more productive and less stress free. And you’ll feel like the effort and expense was more than worth it.
Headshots
This is your time to do some great headshots to use on all your social media profiles and website. Your headshot is your introduction to new clients – make sure it’s a great one; one that gives you confidence that you can show the world.
Banner Shots
Do you need banner shots for website pages and promotions? Why, yes, yes you do. A banner shot, also called the hero shot, is the image your website opens to and can also be the photo at the top of the page, so it’s an important image. A banner photo is also a difficult one to create because it’s an odd crop. Make sure your photographer knows what you need for your banner images. They are very different than the ones you will use for social media and marketing.
Behind the Scenes
Everyone loves to do behind the scenes photos – you don’t have to look at the camera or pose; you just get to do what you do. Your clients want to know what goes on in your business and this how you decide what you want them to see. This is where you show off your hows and whys.

Product Shots
What are you selling? Make sure to have some of your products in your personal branding photos. Your products should be photographed at another time for website images, but they should be used as props in your branding shoot. They also give you something to hold and something to do which helps you relax and look natural.
Lifestyle Images
Lifestyle images are fun – twirl around, dance, laugh. Don’t worry about looking silly – it’s still images not video. These are about showing your personality. It’s the time for celebration shots and whether you celebrate with coffee, tea, champagne, or balloons, make sure to include the props you celebrate with.
Detail Shots
Detail shots are those oh- so- pretty images that are the personality of your brand. They can be used on your website, for social media posts and emails. Fading the opacity of the photo is great to have text or image boxes over giving you more ways to use your personal branding photos.

These are the types of photos you need for your personal branding session. Every business has a different brand so the actual shot list that I create for every business varies to best represent and show off that business’ personality and brand.
